The Village received $14,000,000.00 in funding from both the United States Department of Agriculture Rural Development and the New Mexico Environment Department. The overall project consisted of the design and construction of a combination gravity and low-pressure sewer collection system, lift stations, force, and gravity mains, and wastewater treatment ponds. The project extended sewer service to 75% of the population within the Village limits who were being serviced by septic tanks.
